How to Read a Research Paper

Those who are new to research don't know how to go through the entire paper, they should not be worried. This is because if they know the technique of reading a whole paper, they will be able to grasp their essential information easily.

And so, they should read the title carefully. Then, they should read the abstract of the paper carefully. This is because this section covers the whole summary of the paper where they will find background, objectives, methodology, findings, significance and implications of the paper. Hence, the abstract is the heart of any research paper.Afterward, they should focus on the key words of the paper—remember, based on the key words, it is known to all what the research paper is about. Moreover, they should concentrate on the headings of each section or paragraph. In this case, they don't need to read each section such as introduction, problem statement, research objectives, questions, scope of the study, limitations of the study, literature review, research gaps, methodology, discussion, findings and conclusion through and through; rather, they should emphasize on introduction, literature review, findings and conclusion.

Therefore, in the introduction section, they will understand the purpose of research and its aims.

In the literature review section, they will get applied theory, limitations and gaps.

In the conclusion section, they will grasp recommendations for further research.

Last but not least, by following these techniques for reading a research paper, they can extract the essential information they need for writing their own research.
