Mental Sickness

Mental soundness is a very important issue for any nation, society, family, or individual.

A person can be considered mentally sound if they are satisfied with their own abilities, can adapt to changing situations and extreme work pressure, and can support their family in critical times. Conversely, a person who fails to adapt to critical situations, struggles under extreme work pressure, and cannot support their family may be considered mentally ill.

A mentally healthy person maintains positive thoughts, approaches challenges with optimism, and seeks lessons even in negative situations. They remain calm, patient, and tension-free, and actively look for solutions to overcome problems. On the other hand, people who cannot do this often suffer from depression, even when they consult psychologists and take medication for extended periods. In such cases, they may isolate themselves from family and society, gradually becoming more vulnerable to mental illness. In extreme situations, some may even attempt suicide.

In our society, many young people commit suicide due to depression caused by failure in life—failure to get good jobs, inability to achieve career ambitions, or unemployment after graduation. Once labeled as mentally ill, a person is often mocked by society, which is highly undesirable both for the individual and their family. Mental illness is a serious condition that should be treated with utmost care and attention.

For the development of any nation or society, the mental well-being of its citizens is crucial. A society based on sound mental health can contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the country, whereas a society suffering from widespread mental illness cannot.

Therefore, we should not ridicule or mock mental patients. Instead, we should be kind, supportive, and understanding. Family support is particularly important for recovery, and societal attitudes must change to create a compassionate environment for those struggling with mental health issues. Those who mock mental patients reveal their own lack of understanding of the severity of mental illness.
