Science for Survival,Not for Subversion

Nature gives us abundance with her lavish hand; however, we create inclement pressure on her, the aftermaths of which have frightful effects on the globe’s climate and environment. Though the world is becoming highly developed through modern science-based technology, the surroundings across the globe are facing a great crisis.

Notably, factories producing dyes, tanneries, shipbuilding industries, computer hardware containing CFC gases, radiations from electronic devices, nuclear power plants, nuclear burners, nuclear weapons, nuclear bombs, pollution, and the destruction of forests—all of these are responsible for such antagonistic outcomes.

Moreover, developed countries have been extending the emission of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen, CFCs, and other deleterious substances. Conspicuously, nuclear weapon-based developed countries always remain busy competing with their rivals. Launching ballistic missiles upon their opponent nations has become a conventional practice, which they consider necessary. In fact, their prime vision is to become more powerful than their adversaries for their own economic and military interests.

It is notable that these countries have been misusing the discoveries of Albert Einstein and the dynamite invention of Alfred Nobel. During Einstein’s lifetime, he was shocked to learn that his scientific ideas had been misused by the USA when it dropped atomic bombs on Japan during the Second World War. Under that nuclear cloud, Japan witnessed an appalling horror.

Be that as it may, being in possession of nuclear weapons, the USA has the capability to destroy the whole world. Besides, the European Union, Pakistan, India, North and South Korea, and Iran continue to increase their power and wealth through nuclear energy. The continuous testing of missiles by these developed countries has had a severe impact on nature. Launching missiles from land to land, and from land to the oceans, leaves far-reaching hostile effects on the environment.

If developed countries do not reduce the emission of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrogen, chlorobromide, and other detrimental gases, the future world will become unsuitable for the existence of human beings as well as all plants and animals.

Nature has already begun taking vengeance on us, and we are witnessing the consequences everywhere. For example, global warming, the greenhouse effect, the melting of glaciers, the rising of sea levels, the gradual destruction of the ozone layer, the decline of ecosystems, reduced oxygen levels in ocean depths, and the frequent occurrence of dreadful natural disasters-all are the outcomes of our adverse actions against nature, aren’t they?

A hundred years ago, the world’s climate was far more favorable than it is today. Industrialization, the use of atomic bombs and weapons in aggressive wars among developed nations for power and dominance, ignorance, lack of environmental consciousness, and a hostile attitude toward nature have all brought about inauspicious effects on the global climate.

Last but not least, sea pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, and air pollution, in short, all kinds of pollution, must be stopped. Furthermore, we must stop using nuclear energy negatively and instead use it for positive purposes; otherwise, our future existence on Earth will remain uncertain. Indeed, we must do our best to use these deleterious gases in beneficial ways. For instance, we are already gaining benefits from solar power systems. Similarly, we can use carbon dioxide to produce electromagnetic electricity. In doing so, we can protect ourselves from the disadvantages of CO₂. Therefore, there is no alternative but to conduct research on how these harmful gases can be used for the welfare of humankind.
