Pragmatism &Bigotry

What does bigotry mean? Who are its retainers?

A large number of recognized religions exist all over the world, each with distinctive differences. These differences include the conception of God, methods of prayer, ways of following religious principles, sacred texts, ways of living life, and modes of governance. Despite these differences, issues related to humanism are remarkably similar across all religions. Every religion emphasizes humanity, empathy, compassion, respect for others’ opinions and beliefs, liberty, equality, free thinking, humane aid, peace, and resilience.

Those who are hostile toward these humanistic values are considered blind and ignorant. Retainers of a bigoted mentality are extremists precisely because they lack the qualities that make a person liberal, humane, righteous, sympathetic, and respectful of others’ perspectives. Due to their rigid mindset, instability, bloodshed, genocide, indiscriminate killings, and conflicts occur on a global scale, preventing the establishment of peace, stability, and harmony. If these individuals truly understood the meaning of humanism, they would refrain from committing such heinous acts.

On the other hand, another group—atheists, who do not follow any religion—often believe in humanism. They advocate for equity, peace, stability, human rights, freedom of expression, and respect for others. Whenever an injustice or barbarous event occurs, they raise their voices and protest. However, some of these individuals may also be criticized as bigoted because they fail to recognize that humanism is an integral part of religious teachings.

If asked about the origin of humanism, they might argue that it emerges from the human mind. When questioned about the chemical and physiological processes in the mind, they explain it in terms of biology, chemistry, or physiology, reflecting a pragmatic perspective.

In conclusion, pragmatism and bigotry are major philosophical barriers that contribute to global instability and disorder. Both prevent humanity from achieving true peace, justice, and harmony.
